What our guests are saying about us
Just wonderful
Many thanks to Ian for such a lovely stay back in early March.Ye Spotted Dogge is a delightful stay, lots of history, the murder of the Duke et al.Ian made sure we were very well fed at breakfast, the food was just delightful and we couldn't eat it all.The in house bar was lovely with locals popping in for a friendly drink, a great way to get local knowledge of what to see and where to eat in Portsmouth. Our two day was too short, we'll be back. Thanks Ian.
A rare gem
Planning accommodation for a weekend away in Portsmouth, Ye Spotted Dogge leapt out at us immediately - quaint, quirky and in a fantastic location for exploring the historic quarter, we are so pleased we booked and it's made our choice of hotel incredibly easy next time we're down on the south coast. We were extremely well looked after and couldn't have asked for more indulgent comfort in a setting that oozes historical intrigue. Thanks so much, and see you again!
A History lovers’ delight!
We had a wonderful two night stay at Ye Spotted Dogge. We discovered the hotel on my favourite history podcasters’ documentary on the Duke of Buckingham(George Villiers) and we were not disappointed. This building has been lovingly restored and curated by Ian; offering guests the chance to immerse themselves in a piece of history with all the comforts of a modern hotel. The breakfast was plentiful with fresh, local produce all set on beautiful China. We stayed in the “China Room” which had a large, deep and comfortable claw foot bath accompanied by a stunning four poster bed, it was incredibly luxurious. All the staff were friendly, attentive and ready to share their knowledge on the building. We enjoyed having a drink and a chat with Alex at the bar whose hosting skills are unmatched. It is clear that the Spotted Dogge is a hub of community activity and though we were guests and strangers to the area we were made to feel like part of the family. We would recommend to anyone and can’t wait to come back.
